In this article, Reference Shenoy, Weber and McMullen1 the abstract has been revised to reflect only the endorsing organizations. The opening sentences now read: “This multisociety infection prevention guidance document was developed for individuals and organizations that engage in sterilization or high-level disinfection (HLD). It was endorsed by SHEA, APIC, ASGE, IDSA, and SGNA.” At the request of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), its name has been removed from the document.

Additionally, references 11 and 171 are incorrect in the article due to a citation error involving studies by a different author with the same surname. The correct references are as follows:

11. Spaulding EH, Emmons EK. Chemical disinfection. Am J Nurs. 1958;58(9):1238-1242.

171. Gillespie EE, Kotsanas D, Stuart RL. Microbiological monitoring of endoscopes: 5-year review. J Gastroenterol Hepatol. 2008;23(7 Pt 1):1069-1074.

These changes do not affect the content or development methodology of the guidance.
